Helping Consumers
This section references information in the Helping Consumers section of Assister Central. The list below is a guide to help you understand which tasks can be accomplished through the METS Navigator Portal and which processes must be completed outside of the navigator portal to help consumers.Screening Consumers: Your first meeting is a good time to tell the consumer they can authorize you to act on their behalf using the navigator portal. The Screening Consumers section of Helping Consumers provides more information on this subject.
Apply for Coverage: You can use the navigator portal to help consumers apply for coverage WITH financial assistance. Visit the Apply for Coverage section of Helping Consumers for information on helping consumers apply for coverage. Refer to "Completing Applications in the Assister Portal" for more help using the navigator portal to apply on behalf of the consumer.
Shop and Enroll: The steps to enroll in a plan in the navigator portal are the same as a consumer's view in the shopping and enrollment platform. Visit the Shop and Enroll section of Helping Consumers for more information. Reminder: Brokers must have an association with the consumer through the navigator portal to establish their agent of record.
Renewals and Open Enrollment: Refer to the Renewals section of Helping Consumers and check the Announcements page on Assister Central for current information.
Reporting Changes: The reporting changes process cannot be completed in the navigator portal. You will report application changes through an online tool that is outside of the navigator portal. Follow the Report Application Changes process in the Helping Consumers section.
Special Enrollment Periods: There tasks for certain special enrollment periods that can be completed through the navigator portal. For more information, visit the Special Enrollment Period (SEP) page in Helping Consumers.
Verifications: Verifications cannot be submitted or viewed in the navigator portal. Follow the Verifications process on Helping Consumers.
Terminating Coverage: The process for terminating coverage is the same as a consumer's view in the shopping and enrollment platform. Refer to the Changing, Cancelling and Terminating coverage guide in the Shop and Enroll section of Helping Consumers. Note: The screens may look different in this guide, but the process is the same.
